Bio

Matthew McLellan is an operatic bass in the early stages of his career.  In 2022, he completed his studies at the University of British Columbia where he performed roles such as Figaro, Leporello, Colline, Basilio, Truffaldino, and der Sprecher.  Outside of school he has participated in the Highlands Opera Studio, Canadian Vocal Arts Institute and the Lotte Lehmann Akademie.  He is the recipient of scholarships and awards such as the Vancouver Opera Guild Grant, the Robert H. Lee Award in Opera, the Joseph and Melitta Kandler Scholarship for Advanced Musical Study, and the Tanabe Thorne Scholarship in Opera.  He has just finished performing the roles of Gremin (Eugene Onegin) and Addison (Inertia) with the Highlands Opera Studio in August, 2022.
